Oxford, PA — October 8 — Members of Union Fire Company No.1 invited Scout Troop 213 to tour the firehouse during Fire Prevention Week as part of an educational visit focused on fire safety and emergency services.
The tour allowed scouts, troop leaders, and parents to explore the station, including the ambulance bays and engine room.
Participants had the chance to climb onto fire vehicles and learn about the equipment used by firefighters and emergency medical staff.
Firefighter Witiak shared tips on fire safety, covering what to do and what to avoid in emergencies. Firefighter Scheckner explained the protective gear worn by firefighters. Firefighter Charlton, along with Junior Firefighters N.Dreyer, T.Dreyer, and L.Messner, introduced the apparatus and answered questions about how it works.
Emergency medical personnel, including Lt. Chischnijak, Dan, Maya, and Roger, discussed their roles in providing medical care and emphasized the importance of wearing protective gloves.
The visit offered a hands-on look at the work of fire and EMS personnel. By allowing young visitors to see the station, equipment, and protective gear, the company helped them gain a better understanding of emergency service operations.
The visit on October 8 also gave scouts a chance to ask questions and learn more about the people serving their community.
The company expressed its appreciation for Troop 213, its leaders, and parents for visiting.
