Training to Help: Firefighters Practice First Aid and AED Skills

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

— October 6, 2026 — Firefighters with Robert Fulton Fire Company took part in an evening training session focused on first aid and the medical equipment carried on their apparatus.

Members reviewed the location of supplies in their first aid bags to help ensure equipment can be found quickly during an emergency. The session also included practice taking blood pressure, using an automated external defibrillator ( AED), and handling and operating oxygen equipment.

The training gave members an opportunity to refresh their skills and become more familiar with the equipment available to them. Knowing where supplies are stored and how to use them can help firefighters provide assistance while medical care is being arranged or delivered.
