Mumford, NY — October 5 — Members of the Mumford Fire District used the good weather to carry out hands-on vehicle extrication training with a donated vehicle.

During the exercise, firefighters used Holmatro PENTHEON battery-powered rescue tools to practice spreading and cutting techniques. They also worked on removing vehicle doors, a method that can assist in gaining access to individuals trapped following a motor vehicle accident.

The Holmatro PENTHEON series includes battery-powered cutters, spreaders, and other rescue tools specifically made for vehicle extrication.

These tools help emergency responders cut through vehicle components and create space during rescue efforts.

Training in vehicle extrication allows firefighters to practice placing tools correctly, work through rescue procedures, and enhance teamwork in a controlled environment.

Firefighters also need to consider the vehicle’s stability, potential dangers, and safe access for medical staff treating injured individuals.

The department expressed its gratitude to those who donated vehicles for training. Donated cars give firefighters the chance to use rescue equipment and practice techniques that might be essential during real emergency situations.

The Mumford Fire Department, based at 1013 Main Street in Mumford, regularly includes training drills in its schedule. Ongoing practice helps firefighters maintain their skills and prepare for incidents involving people trapped in vehicles.
