Honeoye Falls Department Recognized 25 Years Since the September 11

Honeoye Falls, NY — September 11 — The Honeoye Falls Fire Department commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks by remembering the victims, the first responders who gave their lives, and the families who have endured the loss over the years.


For the firefighters in the department, the anniversary highlighted the lasting impact of the attacks on multiple generations of emergency service workers.

Some had already been serving in the fire service, while others were children watching the events take place. The bravery and dedication of firefighters and other emergency personnel on that day inspired many to choose careers and volunteer roles in public safety.


The attacks resulted in the loss of 2,977 lives, including 343 firefighters from the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY).

Firefighters, police officers, emergency medical staff, and other responders worked tirelessly to save people and provide aid to those affected by the attacks.


The Honeoye Falls Fire Department continued to provide essential services to the community through fire protection, rescue missions, and emergency response.

As a volunteer department, it emphasized the importance of training, teamwork, and collaboration with other agencies to ensure the safety of residents.


The anniversary also served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by emergency responders and the responsibility that comes with serving in the fire service. The department honored those who lost their lives and reaffirmed the importance of remembering their legacy for future generations.
