Brighton, NY — September 19 — Members of the Brighton Fire Department participated in the 3rd Battalion’s vehicle extrication training over the weekend. The hands-on session gave firefighters an opportunity to practice rescue techniques used when occupants become trapped inside damaged vehicles following a crash.

The drill focused on proper extrication methods while keeping both vehicle occupants and emergency personnel safe. Vehicle rescue operations require crews to assess the scene, identify hazards, stabilize damaged vehicles and select suitable tools to create safe access to trapped occupants.

Training also helped firefighters improve communication and coordination while working together during rescue incidents. Practicing these steps in a controlled setting allowed members to become more familiar with extrication procedures before responding to real emergencies.

The department thanked MESFire for sponsoring the event and bringing members of the 3rd Battalion together for an educational day of training.

The session provided an opportunity for firefighters from the participating departments to share knowledge, review rescue practices and strengthen their teamwork. Regular hands-on training remained an important part of emergency service operations, helping crews maintain their skills and prepare for vehicle accidents involving trapped occupants.

The Brighton Fire Department’s participation reflected the value of battalion-level training in supporting cooperation among emergency responders and improving preparedness for vehicle rescue incidents.
