Deposit Fire Department Celebrates 175 Years of Service With Historical Program

Deposit, N.Y. — September 16, 2026 — The Deposit Fire Department marked 175 years of service with a public history program hosted by the Deposit Historical Society. 

The event took place Wednesday evening at the Historical Society’s museum in Deposit. The program highlighted the people, milestones, and changes that have shaped the department since its founding in 1851. 

Chris Zacharias presented a historical timeline of the department, giving community members an opportunity to learn more about the organization’s development and its role in local fire protection. The program was part of the Historical Society’s ongoing educational events, which focus on the people, places, and events that have shaped the community.
