Weatherly, PA — September 17 — Members of Citizens' Fire Company No.1 in Weatherly helped conduct a Pump Operations II class on Thursday evening at the Carbon County Fire Training Center. This event was aimed at supporting the training of firefighters who are responsible for operating fire equipment and managing water delivery systems.
The training in pump operations is designed to help firefighters learn how to provide water to hose lines and assist in putting out fires at emergency locations. The advanced course includes topics such as friction loss, relay pumping, master streams, and elevated master streams, as outlined by the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.
These skills are essential when fire crews need to transport water over long distances, supply multiple hose lines, or support large-scale fire operations.
Pump operators must control water pressure and flow while working in coordination with other fire units and personnel at the scene.
The Carbon County Fire Training Center serves as a place where emergency responders can develop and keep their skills through structured lessons and hands-on practice.
Regional training also allows firefighters to learn with personnel from other departments, which enhances teamwork and coordination during mutual-aid situations.
The involvement of Citizens' Fire Company No. 1 contributed to the ongoing efforts to keep pump operator skills sharp and improve the effectiveness of water supply operations at fire scenes.
Regular training ensures that firefighters and equipment operators are better equipped to deliver water safely and efficiently during structure fires and other emergencies.
