Boswell, PA — October 29 — Boswell Fire Department joined firefighters from Jennerstown, Stoystown, and Sipesville, along with the Boswell Borough Police Department, for an after-hours tour of North Star Central Elementary School and North Star Junior-Senior High School.

The tour allowed local first responders to gain a better understanding of the school buildings prior to any emergency occurring.

District maintenance supervisor Brandon Fulmer led the responders through the facilities and provided additional information about the buildings they might be called upon to serve.

Being familiar with a building's layout can assist emergency crews in identifying entry points, understanding the interior structure, and planning their actions during an incident.

Having knowledge of school facilities also helps in coordinating efforts between fire, police, and school staff during emergencies.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency encourages collaboration between schools and local emergency services in developing emergency plans.

State guidelines include details on building layouts, communication protocols, response roles, and other resources that can aid responders in preparing for incidents at schools.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the involved departments to enhance their working relationships across their respective response areas.

Boswell Fire Department acknowledged Fulmer for taking time outside of regular working hours to support the first responders.

The tour contributed to ongoing preparedness initiatives and helped crews become more familiar with two key school facilities in their service area.
