South Park, PA - Volunteer firefighters from the Broughton Volunteer Fire Department (Station 270) launched Fire Prevention Week activities on Monday morning with an interactive public safety visit to Windover Hills United Methodist Church Preschool in South Park Township, Allegheny County.

On October 5, 2026, the crew from Engine 270 arrived at the preschool to engage young students in age-appropriate fire prevention education. Responders guided the children through essential home fire safety concepts, emergency awareness, and basic precautions designed to keep families safe.

During the interactive session, firefighters showcased the department’s frontline equipment, walking the students around Engine 270 to display firefighting gear, tools, and protective apparatus.

The hands-on demonstration gave the preschoolers an up-close look at emergency equipment while helping them become familiar and comfortable with firefighters in full protective turnouts, fostering positive community connections and inspiring South Park Township's potential future first responders.
