Citizens Volunteer Fire Company Shared Firefighting Skills

Fawn Grove, PA. — September 25 — Members of the Citizens Volunteer Fire Company spent time with a senior English class at Kennard-Dale High School as part of a community outreach initiative aimed at promoting the volunteer fire service.


During the visit, fire company members shared information about the advantages of volunteering, the process of becoming a member, and what students could expect once they joined. The session also included hands-on experiences with firefighting tools and an introduction to the protective gear that firefighters use during emergency situations.


This visit allowed students to gain insight into the various aspects of the fire department's work beyond responding to emergency calls, such as training, teamwork, community service, and the development of practical skills. The department continues to encourage volunteer participation in order to maintain adequate staffing for emergency responses in Fawn Grove and surrounding areas.


The Citizens Volunteer Fire Company is located at 171 S. Market St. and was founded in 1915. The department handles approximately 200 calls each year. Their membership program is open to individuals with varying levels of experience and offers opportunities to develop firefighting and emergency response skills.


Kennard-Dale High School is located at 393 Main St. in Fawn Grove and serves students in the South Eastern School District. The program gave students a better understanding of volunteer emergency services and the important role local firefighters play in supporting their community.
