Dauphin County 911 Staff Attend PA NENA Conference in State College

State College, Pa. — October 2, 2026 — Representatives from the Dauphin County Department of Public Safety traveled to State College to participate in the 2026 Pennsylvania NENA Conference, furthering their training in emergency communications.
Held from September 16 to September 18 in State College, the conference gathered 911 professionals for training, education, and dialogue on the future of emergency communications. Pennsylvania NENA, the state chapter of the National Emergency Number Association, supports research, planning, training, and education for 911 professionals in both public and private sectors.
Dauphin County Public Safety stated that its staff used the conference to enhance team abilities, gain knowledge about advancements in 911 communications, and get ready for upcoming changes in emergency communications technology.
The county runs the main Public Safety Answering Point for Dauphin County. Its Emergency Communications Center manages 911 call handling, radio dispatch, telecommunicator training, quality assurance, and technical systems. In 2025, the county reported receiving about 160,000 911 calls.
