Middlesex, N.Y. — September 20 — The Middlesex Hose Company honored longtime member Robert “Bob” Mincer, a dedicated volunteer who passed away after many years of service to the department and the Middlesex community.

Mincer joined the Middlesex Hose Company on November 12, 1988. He became an approved apparatus driver and later took on the role of president starting in March 1990. He also served as a trustee and frequently used his expertise in building and mechanics to maintain and upgrade the firehouse.

In addition to his work with the fire department, Mincer was well-known for his long-standing involvement in aviation. He bought Middlesex Airport in 1985 and helped manage the facility for local pilots and residents. He and his wife, Pat, also ran the Pilots Lounge Café for many years.

Mincer's community involvement went beyond the fire service. He was a member of the Town Planning Board and participated in the Yates County Firemen’s Association. His volunteer efforts were acknowledged through the Middlesex Citizen Appreciation Day.

In his later years, he remained active at Middlesex Hose Company events, such as roast beef suppers and fundraising activities.

His many years of volunteer work highlighted the important role that experienced members play in supporting a fire company beyond just responding to emergencies. Mincer’s contributions to the Middlesex Hose Company, the aviation community, and the Town of Middlesex left a lasting legacy of community service.
