Stewartstown, PA. — October 6 — Members of the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department visited Kidsville Junction Daycare to offer fire prevention education and introduce children to the roles of local emergency responders.
During the visit, the children learned important fire safety information and had the chance to spray water from a fire hose, all under the watchful supervision of firefighters. This hands-on experience allowed the young participants to see the equipment used during fire operations up close.
Eureka EMS also opened an ambulance for the children to explore and explained some of the tools and equipment that EMS personnel use. Fire Police members supported firefighters and EMS staff throughout the community event.
At the end of the program, the children were given fire helmets and goodie bags as part of the department’s effort to make fire safety education more engaging and memorable.
After the daycare visit, Eureka crews went to Westminster Place, where firefighters carried out a fire drill. This was followed by a safety discussion that covered emergency preparedness and the correct actions to take during a fire.
Community education continues to be a key part of the fire service. Programs that help children learn about firefighters, EMS personnel, and fire equipment also give departments a chance to reinforce important safety messages at an early stage.
The Eureka Volunteer Fire Department was based at 82 North Main Street in Stewartstown and provided fire, EMS, and fire prevention services to the surrounding community.
