Goodwill Fire Company Remembered Charles “Chuck” Hoffman

York, PA. — September 28 — Members of Goodwill Fire Company #1 of York Township honored the first anniversary of the passing of member Charles “Chuck” Hoffman, remembering his dedication and bond with the department.
Hoffman passed away on September 27, 2025, at the age of 36 during a fishing trip on Assateague Island. As noted in his obituary, he had served for 14 years with Liberty Fire Company Station 25 in North York before transferring to Goodwill Fire Company, where he continued his volunteer firefighting efforts for three years.
Hoffman was a graduate of Central York High School and was respected within the fire service for his willingness to help others. His career in firefighting became a significant part of his life and helped him build strong connections with fellow members, who regarded the firehouse as a second family.
Goodwill Fire Company #1, York County Station 19, has served York Township and neighboring areas since 1913.
The department has provided fire suppression, vehicle rescue, technical rescue, and fire police services, while its members have consistently engaged in regular training and emergency response operations.
One year after Hoffman’s death, the department continued to remember him and recognize his years of volunteer service.
His name remains a part of the department’s legacy and the fire service community he was a part of.
