Manchester, PA. — September 16 — Members of Union Fire Company No.1, based in Manchester, York County, at Station 23, along with Company 22, participated in a company drill focused on vehicle rescue operations.
The training session took place in the evening and gave firefighters the chance to review techniques for stabilizing vehicles and practice various extrication procedures. The practical exercises allowed the team to work through rescue steps in a controlled environment, helping them become more familiar with the equipment and methods used during motor vehicle incidents.
Chief Jamie Roher provided guidance and instruction during the drill, assisting the members in reviewing essential steps and refining their vehicle rescue skills.
Regular hands-on training is vital for preparing firefighters to respond effectively to incidents involving damaged vehicles, including stabilization, access, and patient removal.
Union Fire Company No.1 is a volunteer fire department that serves Manchester Borough and part of East Manchester Township. The department has operated from Station 23, located at 201 York Street, and has a history that dates back to the early 1900s.
