Cambria, PA - Continuing a multi-week operational initiative focused on realistic, aggressive fireground tactics, more than 30 volunteer firefighters from Adams and Richland townships assembled Thursday for an intensive practical training evolution inside an acquired structure.

On the evening of October 1, 2026, personnel from Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department 2 and neighboring Richland Township Fire Department convened for their second dedicated joint drill utilizing the real-world building. The evolution provided members a valuable opportunity to execute interior fireground maneuvers within authentic residential dimensions, hallways, and stairwells rather than simulated classroom props.

Crews placed heavy emphasis on simulated fire attack, rapid hoseline advancement, and interior water distribution management. Firefighters repeatedly practiced stretching attack and backup lines through tight entryways, negotiating structural corners, and coordinating nozzle control under challenging architectural constraints. In total, participants deployed and exercised over 2,500 feet of hose line during the extended session.

Department leadership commended the strong regional turnout and cross-company communication, emphasizing that repetitive, hands-on drilling in realistic acquired structures builds the muscle memory and tactical cohesion necessary to conduct effective, coordinated interior attacks when real structural fires occur.
