Penn Forest TWP, PA - Volunteer firefighters demonstrated that no call is too high or unusual on Thursday, deploying heavy aerial equipment to safely rescue a stranded cat from the upper branches of a tree on Keats Lane.
Operating under incident dispatch number 2026-205 on the night of September 24, 2026, Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company 2 was alerted to an animal rescue request involving a feline trapped well out of reach of ordinary ground ladders.
Ladder 2222 responded to the scene, positioning the heavy truck in the residential corridor and extending its aerial ladder into the treetop canopy. Firefighters ascended the rig, carefully approached the frightened animal—identified as "Star"—and safely secured the feline without incident.
Once brought safely back down to solid ground, Star was happily reunited with family members. Department personnel inspected the ladder apparatus, secured their equipment, and returned to quarters ready for the next call.
