Baldwin, PA. — September 11 — Baldwin Fire Rescue honored the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by remembering the civilians and emergency responders who lost their lives that day.

The attacks led to the deaths of almost 3,000 individuals in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Among those who were killed were 343 firefighters from the FDNY, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority Police officers.

For the fire and emergency services community, September 11 continues to be a day of remembrance for the responders who entered the World Trade Center as part of the rescue effort.

Thousands of firefighters, police officers, EMS workers, rescue personnel, and others from around the country later participated in rescue, recovery, and relief operations.

The 25th anniversary celebration in 2026 featured the reading of the names of those who were killed in the attacks.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum also introduced a seventh moment of silence to honor individuals who later died from illnesses or injuries related to the attacks and their aftermath.

Baldwin Fire Rescue joined other departments and emergency service organizations nationwide in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continued to serve in the years that followed.
