Edgewater, N.J. — September 26, 2026 — High-water rescue teams were called to the Comfort Inn in Edgewater on Saturday morning as rising Hudson River waters, driven by a strong nor’easter, inundated the surrounding area.

Around 10:09 a.m., Edgewater Fire Company 1 was called in to help evacuate people from the hotel as water levels kept rising. The department sent its high-water rescue trucks to assist in relocating people from the flooded area to safer locations. The department reported the response, which was also independently verified by local news coverage. The flooding affected the area around the Comfort Inn along the Hudson River. A National Weather Service local storm report later documented more than two feet of inundation near the hotel.
