Firefighters and Plant Personnel Team Up for High-Stakes Industrial Scenario in Exeter

Exeter TWP, PA - Firefighters from the Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department teamed up with the Birdsboro-Union Fire Department on Tuesday evening to conduct their annual joint industrial emergency drill at the local Arkema manufacturing facility.


On the evening of September 29, 2026, crews mobilized to the industrial complex to run through a simulated emergency evolution designed in collaboration with Arkema safety personnel. The exercise challenged responders and plant staff to navigate potential high-risk industrial hazards, test on-site suppression and containment systems, evaluate facility-specific access routes, and coordinate life-safety measures in a complex operational environment.


Department officials emphasized that conducting realistic drills alongside plant specialists ensures both mutual aid fire companies maintain vital institutional familiarity with the facility's unique layouts, specialized machinery, and chemical safety protocols.


Following the successful completion of the training evolution, Arkema management provided a gift card to supply dinner for the volunteer crews, wrapping up an evening dedicated to strengthening community-industry emergency preparedness.
