Mays Landing, N.J. — September 8, 2026 — During Laureldale Fire Rescue’s annual equipment-maintenance day, firefighters had their self-contained breathing apparatuscommonly called SCBA or air packsinspected and tested.

MES Fire, the Municipal Emergency Services, was at the Laureldale firehouse to carry out the testing and inspection. The department stated that the work encompassed SCBA cylinders, regulators, facepieces, hoses, valves, alarms, and other parts.

Firefighters use this equipment in environments where smoke, heat, and other dangerous conditions can render normal breathing unsafe. Routine inspections and upkeep can detect damaged or worn parts before the equipment is required in an emergency.

MES Fire provides SCBA inspection, repair and testing services, including on-site service and hydrostatic cylinder testing. Municipal Emergency Services also provides breathing apparatus, SCBA parts and related services to fire and emergency-service agencies.
