Millvale, PA - Members of the Millvale Volunteer Fire Department took to the grounds of Shaler Area High School on Monday evening, conducting extensive practical drills centered on ladder operations and municipal water supply tactics.
On the evening of September 21, 2026, Millvale volunteers utilized the high school campus to simulate commercial and multi-story structural fireground scenarios. Crews practiced raising, positioning, and securing portable ground ladders to access upper elevation points, while also evaluating aerial apparatus placement for effective roof ventilation and elevated rescue operations.
In tandem with ladder work, personnel drilled heavily on establishing continuous, large-diameter water supplies. Firefighters focused on laying supply lines, making hydrant connections, and optimizing engine pump pressures to maintain steady flows under high-demand suppression evolutions.
Department leadership extended their gratitude to the Shaler Area School District for their continued partnership, noting that access to large school facilities and sprawling campus grounds provides responders with invaluable real-world training environments to maintain operational readiness.
