Wanaque, NJ — September 30 — Wanaque Borough Fire Companies 1 and 2 carried out a vehicle extrication drill that included a simulated scenario where a tree had fallen on a vehicle. The exercise used a two-door Chevrolet Blazer with a simulated victim trapped in the rear seat.

Firefighters from both companies worked together to secure the vehicle before starting the extrication process.

They practiced various rescue methods, such as cutting and prying, to gain access to the simulated patient and safely remove the trapped individual from the back of the vehicle.

This training allowed the firefighters to gain practical experience using rescue tools while working in a simulated challenging environment.

Such exercises help firefighters develop skills in vehicle stabilization, tool handling, communication, and coordinated rescue operations.

The official Fire Department page of Wanaque Borough identifies the department as part of the borough’s emergency services and offers information for residents interested in becoming firefighters.

Wanaque Borough also includes drills and specialized training as part of its fire department activities.

The LOSAP program acknowledges members’ participation in department exercises and training sessions, highlighting the importance of ongoing training in the volunteer fire service.

The drill offered firefighters from both Wanaque companies the chance to collaborate, operate their rescue equipment, and prepare for vehicle emergencies that involve difficult access situations.
