Franklin Township Fire & EMS Remembered September 11

Franklin Twp., NJ — September 11 — Franklin Twp Fire & EMS, located at 410 Old Main Street, Asbury, commemorated the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, by honoring the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives in the attacks, as well as the emergency personnel who rushed to assist that day.
The September 11 attacks resulted in casualties at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
According to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, almost 1,000 firefighters and approximately 2,000 police officers responded to the World Trade Center, alongside emergency medical services personnel and other agencies.
Among those who lost their lives were 343 firefighters from the New York City Fire Department, 23 officers from the New York City Police Department, and 37 officers from the Port Authority Police Department.
Many responders entered the World Trade Center to aid civilians in evacuating, provide medical care, and carry out rescue efforts.
The anniversary also paid tribute to the families who mourned the loss of their loved ones, as well as the responders and volunteers who continued rescue and recovery operations in the aftermath of the attacks.
The 9/11 Memorial continues to honor all those who were killed and those who risked their lives to help others.
For Franklin Twp Fire & EMS, the observance served as a moment to reflect on those who served, those who were lost, and the significance of preserving their memory moving forward.
