Alpha Fire Company Marked 25 Years Since September 11

Alpha, NJ — September 11 — Alpha Volunteer Fire Company Station 82, located at 1109 Lee Avenue, commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by honoring the civilians, firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other emergency workers who lost their lives during the event.


The department’s remembrance honored the 2,977 individuals who were killed in the attacks, including 343 members of the New York City Fire Department.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum also acknowledged the deaths of 23 NYPD officers and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers.


On September 11, nearly 1,000 firefighters and approximately 2,000 police officers responded to the World Trade Center, along with EMS personnel and other agencies.

These responders entered the towers and surrounding areas to assist in evacuating civilians, providing medical care, and carrying out rescue efforts.


The anniversary also paid tribute to the rescue and recovery workers who continued their efforts at Ground Zero and other locations impacted by the attacks.

The 9/11 Memorial noted that tens of thousands of people participated in rescue, recovery, and relief operations in New York, Arlington, and Somerset County, Pennsylvania.


For Alpha Volunteer Fire Company, the observance served as a reminder of the emergency service members who responded on that day and the significance of remembering their service and sacrifice.

The department’s station at 1109 Lee Avenue was recognized by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety as Alpha Volunteer Fire Company.
