This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Five members of the East Freehold Fire Company traveled to New Mexico Tech to receive specialized training in responding to and preventing bombing incidents.

The training was delivered via New Mexico Tech’s Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center ( EMRTC), which offers DHS/ FEMA-certified courses designed for emergency responders. The program is designed to train firefighters, EMS workers, law enforcement officers, and other first responders for incidents involving explosives and other high-impact threats.

East Freehold Fire Company said the training was fully funded through the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA, allowing the five volunteer firefighters to attend without cost to the department. New Mexico Tech's first-responder training program confirms that its DHS/FEMA-supported courses are offered at no cost to state, local, tribal and territorial government agencies.
