West Windsor, N.J. — September 5 — The West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. I used the International Day of Charity to emphasize a type of community service that extends beyond monetary contributions: volunteering one’s time. 


The United Nations designates September 5 as the International Day of Charity. Established by the U.N. General Assembly in 2012, the day is observed on the anniversary of Mother Teresa’s death, which occurred on September 5, 1997. The observance promotes charitable and volunteer efforts worldwide.
