Chaplain Larry Coyne of the Clinton Fire Department joined county officials, first responders, law enforcement personnel, veterans, and local residents for the dedication of Hunterdon County’s permanent 9/11 Memorial at Hilltop Reserve.

The ceremony commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and was the first official county observance conducted at the new memorial. The site in Raritan Township was chosen partly because residents had gathered on the hill following the attacks and could see smoke rising from New York City.

Coyne, who serves as chaplain for the Clinton Fire Department and the Hunterdon County Fire Chiefs Association, delivered both the opening invocation and closing benediction during the ceremony. His participation placed a local fire-service representative at an event honoring the 15 Hunterdon County residents who died in the attacks.
