Wildwood Firefighters Remembered Those Lost on 9/11

Wildwood, N.J. — September 11 — The City of Wildwood Fire Department observed the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks by honoring the civilians and emergency responders who lost their lives. For fire service personnel, the anniversary held deep significance, as fire departments nationwide reflected on the 343 FDNY members who perished while responding to the World Trade Center. On September 11, 2026, the FDNY held remembrance events to honor these individuals and their service. New York City Government


The anniversary also paid tribute to firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, and other responders who worked during and after the attacks.

Many of these individuals dedicated months to supporting rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site.


Twenty-five years later, September 11 continued to be an important date for emergency service organizations.

Fire departments maintained traditions such as memorial ceremonies, moments of silence, station observances, and educational programs to preserve the history of the response.
