Ramsey Firefighters Marked 25 Years Since 9/11

Ramsey, N.J. — September 11 — The Ramsey NJ Fire Department commemorated the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, by honoring the firefighters, emergency responders, and civilians who lost their lives during the attacks.

The department paid tribute to the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department who gave their lives while responding to the World Trade Center.

Firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and other emergency workers also rushed to the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Ramsey Fire Department had previously honored FDNY members and other victims as part of its annual September 11 remembrance. The department’s 2026 message acknowledged the efforts of first responders and civilians impacted by the events.

The anniversary also highlighted the ongoing health challenges faced by those who responded to or were exposed to the disaster. The federal World Trade Center Health Program offers medical monitoring and treatment for responders and survivors diagnosed with 9/11-related conditions. The program has served nearly 150,000 individuals across the United States and its territories.

The Ramsey Fire Department, based at 25 S. Island Ave., continues to serve the borough as a volunteer department. The 25th anniversary offered the fire service community a chance to remember those who were lost and to recognize the ongoing dedication of responders and their families.
