Hackensack Fire Department Held 25th Anniversary 9/11 Ceremony

Hackensack, N.J. — September 11 — The City of Hackensack Fire Department organized a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at their Fire Headquarters on September 11, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The event took place at 2:30 p.m.at 205 State Street and was attended by firefighters, other first responders, families, and community members.

The ceremony honored the individuals who were killed during the attacks and the emergency personnel who responded to the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Flight 93 crash sites. A total of nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the attacks.

The 25th anniversary also acknowledged first responders and survivors who later succumbed to illnesses linked to their work at the scene.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum included those who died from 9/11-related illnesses and injuries in its 2026 anniversary observance.

Bergen County continued to acknowledge the local impact of September 11. County officials noted that 347 residents from Bergen County were among those lost on that day, and first responders from throughout the county traveled to Ground Zero to support the response efforts.

The Hackensack ceremony offered a local venue for firefighters and other emergency personnel to honor those who were lost and to reflect on the ongoing influence of September 11 on the public safety community.
