Glen Rock Remembered Those Lost on September 11

Glen Rock, N.J. — September 11 — Twenty-five years after the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department and local emergency services honored those who lost their lives during the tragedy.

Glen Rock was one of the Bergen County communities affected by the attacks. Eleven residents from the borough were killed. Their names were later added to the borough’s 9/11 memorial located at Veterans Park, which is situated at Main and Rodney streets.

The memorial included a piece of steel from the World Trade Center and functioned as a lasting tribute to the people of Glen Rock.

The borough also held annual memorial events at Veterans Park to pay respects to those who did not come home.

The Bergen County Public Safety In Memoriam Memorial also honored emergency workers in the area, including firefighters and police officers who were killed on September 11.

The Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department has served the community since 1910 and has continued as a volunteer organization. Its members have responded to emergencies throughout the year while keeping their training and preparedness up to date.

On the 25th anniversary of the attacks, the fire department and the community came together to remember the victims, first responders, and families who were impacted by the events of September 11.

The remembrance also acknowledged those who later passed away due to illnesses linked to the rescue and recovery operations.
