Passaic Firefighters Train With New Neptune 10 Water Rescue Drone

On September 16th the city of Passaic took ownership of a Neptune 10 drone. 

The firefighters received first hands training on how it works at the third ward park lake. and soon will learn on the river. The Neptune 10 Water Rescue Drone is a remote-controlled marine vehicle built by HERO LifeCare for rapid aquatic and flood emergency response.

Engineered for rapid response, this drone speeds through the water to reach drowning victims faster, significantly improving safety for both the victim and rescuer. 

it can carry a person 450lbs.

They are used widely in the ocean. But have no problem in rough title water like a river. They have been bought though out the country. The city also purchased 15 life rings with rope that will be placed along the river by the bridges, and in third ward park or where it is known for people to get trapped in their cars,

The drone will be kept in one of the firehouses. From the time the call comes in to the time the 1st responders and they get to the scene and deploy a boat it can take up 15 minutes.

With the HERO drone it can be driven in a Chiefs car right to where the person is. It can be dropped 30 ft off a bridge and get right to work, every firefighter will be trained on using it. 

The Mayor Hector Lora could not emphasize enough on how this is so needed in the city as when we get hit with hard heavy rain for a long period of time the city floods in areas where it is sometimes hard to get to and individual that is trapped in a flash flood and stuck in there car, so it can also help the firefighter from risking his or her life having to walk in the deep water. 

This pass July three young children were playing in the river when they were swept up by the current one made it to safety the other two lost their life.

A safety line can be tied to it to bring it to someone and then transport them to shore. The drone is equipped with a microphone so they can talk to the person that is waiting to be rescued, also a light and camera is also attached to it. and in can operate in 6 inches of water.
