Memorial Board, Nov 26

Jersey City, N.J.  - It all started with a firehouse kitchen discussion, as many projects do, and it became a reality. On September 22nd, members of Jersey City Engine Co. 9 and the 4th Battalion quarters, on Bergen av., held a ceremony to reveal a Memorial Wall for five members of this firehouse who gave their lives in the Line-of-Duty. It was spearheaded by 4th Battalion Chief Ken Simone, whose father, Captain Louis Simone, was one of those men who made the Supreme Sacrifice. The apparatus floor was filled with on and off duty firefighters, retired members and friends. Those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice along with Captain Simone were Firefighters Ephraint Rogers, Robert Morrison, Stephen Connors and Francis Lee. Eastern Millwork, of Jersey City, was recognized for their "essential role in the creation of the Memorial Wall." Members of the company were present, and they received a plaque from the firefighters for their dedicated assistance.  Never Forget those who came, and served, before us, and Never Forget those who made the Supreme Sacrifice in order to help others.
