Barnegat Light Crews Completed Roof Ventilation Drill

Barnegat Light, N.J. — September 10 — Members of the Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company #1 carried out a roof operations drill that emphasized vertical ventilation and coordination during fireground activities.

During the training, firefighters worked on a roof and used chainsaws to create openings for ventilation.

The exercise aimed to remove heat and smoke from a building while assisting interior teams that were conducting fire suppression and initial search operations. Firefighters practiced performing tasks safely on the roof, using power tools, and coordinating their actions with teams working below.

The training gave members practical experience in a task that required effective communication, correct tool usage, and an awareness of roof conditions.

Recent training updates also indicated that the company continues to rely on hands-on exercises to keep and enhance emergency response abilities.

Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company #1 is a volunteer department that serves the Borough of Barnegat Light.

According to the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety, the company is located at 907 Central Avenue and has 40 volunteer firefighters listed in its 2025 department records.

The roof operations drill offered firefighters another chance to practice and maintain the skills needed during structure fire incidents.
