Fire Reported on Union Street in Reading

Reading, PA - On the afternoon of Wednesday September 23rd dispatchers at the Berks County DES call center received a call reporting smoke coming from 926 Union Street. Firefighters from Engine 9 and Ladder 3 arrived with smoke showing from a story end of row dwelling. Crews stretched a line into the home and located fire in the walls of a kitchen. The ceilings and walls were opened in the fire building to expose the fire that appeared to have been burning for some time. All searches were clear, with no injuries reported. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes. Deputy Chief Tom Kemery was in command.
