Montague Volunteer Fire Department Marked Labor Day

Montague, N.J. — September 7 — The Montague Volunteer Fire Department celebrated Labor Day by honoring the workers who helped keep the community running smoothly, while also acknowledging the ongoing efforts of local volunteer firefighters.

Labor Day is a time to acknowledge the contributions of employees, tradespeople, public safety officials, and volunteers throughout the nation. For the Montague Volunteer Fire Department, the holiday also served as a reminder of the dedication of its members, who continued to provide fire protection and emergency response services to the township.

The department is based at 275 Clove Road and was recognized by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety as a volunteer fire department serving Montague Township. Montague Township formed its volunteer fire department through local ordinance, and it was officially named the Montague Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The department's history also includes the opening of a new firehouse on Clove Road in 2021. The facility offers space for fire equipment, training, and various departmental activities.

The Labor Day celebration honored the hard work of community members, while also noting that emergency services continued to operate as many residents enjoyed the holiday. For the Montague firefighters, the day was another chance to serve their community.
