Westfield Fire Department Celebrated 26 Years of Service by Captain Aldo Tammaro

Westfield, N.J. — September 15 — The Town of Westfield, New Jersey Fire Department honored Captain and Emergency Medical Technician Aldo Tammaro for completing 26 years of service with the department.

Tammaro started his service with the Westfield Fire Department in September 2000 and was assigned as a captain on Tour 2.

According to department records, he continued to serve the community in that role as part of the department's 24-hour duty system.

The Westfield Fire Department has a long history of providing fire and emergency medical services.

Founded in 1875, the department evolved into a career department with 36 sworn firefighters. Its members worked on four 24-hour duty tours, with 72 hours of rest between shifts. All sworn members were New Jersey-certified EMTs and supported the Westfield Rescue Squad on emergency calls.

Tammaro's 26 years of service included more than two decades of responding to emergencies, working with fellow firefighters, and helping residents.

His career also highlighted the ongoing training and responsibilities that come with being an officer in the fire service.

The fire headquarters remained at 405 North Avenue West, where the department maintained round-the-clock staffing.

The anniversary served as an opportunity for the department and the broader emergency services community to acknowledge Tammaro's long-standing commitment to Westfield.
