AMKUS Rescue Systems Demonstrates Next-Gen Hydraulic Rescue Tools for Roseland Volunteers

Roseland, NJ - Firefighters with the Roseland Volunteer Fire Department put the latest generation of battery-powered vehicle extrication equipment to the test Tuesday evening during a specialized, practical drill session hosted at the firehouse.

On the evening of September 22, representatives from AMKUS Rescue Systems and Strategic Safety Dynamics visited the department to present an in-depth operational demonstration of modern, cordless hydraulic rescue tool technology.

Rather than relying on classroom instruction alone, the evolution provided members with direct, hands-on tool time on actual donor vehicles provided by DeFalco's Instant Towing. Responders were put through practical evolutions where they operated light-duty and heavy-duty cutters, high-tonnage spreaders, versatile combination tools, and hydraulic extension rams.

Throughout the session, firefighters tested the tools across varied vehicle metals, door posts, roof pillars, and structural assemblies to evaluate cutting force, battery endurance, maneuverability, and ergonomics compared to traditional hydraulic systems.

Department leadership noted that firsthand field evaluations are critical for assessing evolving rescue technology, ensuring that future frontline tool acquisitions align directly with the tactical operational needs of the borough and the surrounding communities they protect.
