Stepney Members Honored Those Lost on September 11

Monroe, CT — September 11 — Stepney Fire Department joined other first responders from Monroe on September 11 to honor the lives lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and to pay tribute to the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical staff, and other responders who answered the calls that day.

1 stood together with personnel from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company, Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, and Monroe Police Department as part of the community's remembrance event.

The event highlighted the ongoing collaboration among Monroe's emergency service agencies.

The town’s Emergency Management Department collaborates with local, regional, and state partners on preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. Monroe CERT also assists local first responders during community events and emergencies.

The Monroe Police Department continues to play an emergency response role in the community, with officers responding to emergency medical calls in addition to their law enforcement responsibilities.

September 11 remains a significant day for emergency service personnel to remember the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives in the attacks and the responders who gave their lives while performing their duties.

For departments throughout Monroe, the annual observance offers a chance to acknowledge the service, teamwork, and sense of duty that those who respond to emergencies carry with them.
