Two Vermont Fire Departments Train on Rural Water Supply Operations

West Pawlet, Vt. — September 15, 2026 — On Tuesday, firefighters from the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department and the Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department teamed up for a joint drill focused on water supply operations, using the evening training to tackle the difficulties of setting up and sustaining an effective water source.
The departments labeled the session as another “ Training Tuesday,” during which firefighters collaborated on water supply operations. A few problems arose during the exercise, but they were viewed as part of the training process, allowing crews to recognize and address issues before facing them in a real emergency.
