Newport City Firefighters Train on Establishing Water Supply

Newport, Vt. — September 15 — On Tuesday, members of the Newport City Fire Department held water-supply training, rehearsing the procedures required to set up a reliable water source for firefighting operations. 

During the training, firefighters practiced finding and marking municipal hydrants, attaching large-diameter hoses, setting up water supplies for fire engines, and coordinating as a full engine crew. 

The hands-on exercise concentrated on the initial phases of fire response, during which crews must secure a dependable water supply and transfer water from a hydrant to the firefighting apparatus at the scene. Consistent training helps firefighters become acquainted with hydrant positions, tools, and the teamwork needed in emergencies.
