Johnson Fire Department Places New Engine 1 in Service

Johnson, Vt. — September 24 — The Johnson Fire Department put its new Engine 1 into service on Thursday, introducing an additional piece of equipment and enhancing the department’s emergency response capabilities. 

The department stated that the new engine was engineered to offer improved capabilities in response to the evolving needs of the fire service. The apparatus project received support from a Truck Committee that dedicated roughly two years to the process, moving from the initial design phase all the way to the truck being put into service.

The committee managed the project through all its phases prior to the official deployment of the new Engine 1. Department officials expressed gratitude to the members for their time and effort in completing the project. 

Johnson’s fire department has in the past relied on a truck replacement committee to plan its apparatus. Records from the village in 2024 indicate that the department had been working on developing specifications and pricing for an engine replacement project, and at that time, the committee received the final versions of those details.
