Charlton Fire Department Takes Delivery of New 4x4 Ambulance

Charlton, Mass. — September 10 — The Charlton Fire Department received a new 2024 Ford F-550 4x4 ambulance, providing the community with an additional emergency response vehicle as the department keeps upgrading its fleet. 

The ambulance, designated by the department as a “ Superliner,” was delivered to Charlton following approval by town voters in May 2024. The department stated that the vehicle will replace a 2018 ambulance still in its fleet. 

The new ambulance was specially constructed by Specialty Vehicles. Staff from the department are currently installing radios and other necessary operational gear, finishing up the final preparations before the vehicle goes into service. 

The department stated that delays in production and delivery have affected the project, a scenario that has disrupted emergency vehicle deliveries across numerous communities. The new ambulance is anticipated to go into service within the next few weeks, following its outfitting, inspections, and final preparations. 

Independent records also verify that Charlton received a 2024 Ford F-550/Life Line 4x4 ambulance, designated as Ambulance 3, in September 2026. 

The new ambulance enhances Charlton's ability to respond to emergencies. State records show that the Charlton Fire Department operates as an ambulance service located at 10 Main Street, Charlton. 

The department expressed gratitude to Charlton voters and residents for their support of the purchase and its continued emergency-services mission.
