The Union Fire District of South Kingstown and the Kingston Fire District will host their annual Firefighter Memorial Ceremony and Parade on Sunday, September. 27, paying tribute to local firefighters who lost their lives while serving. 

The memorial ceremony is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at Firefighter’s Memorial Square, in front of the Palisades Mill, situated at 1070 Kingstown Road. A parade will take place at 10:15 a.m., Exiting Union Fire District Station 3 on School Street. The Union Fire District currently runs eight stations that serve South Kingstown, with Station 3 situated at 36 School Street. 

The annual service, titled “ In Memory of Our Fallen Brothers,” will honor William E. Gray, who passed away in February. April 28, 1968; Byron H. Love, who passed away on April 28, 1968; and Allan P. LePage, who died on June 30, 2009. The three firefighters have also been recognized at prior memorial services organized by the two South Kingstown fire districts. 

Chief Steven M. Pinch of the Union Fire District and Chief Thomas Reed of the Kingston Fire District extended an invitation to residents and members of the surrounding community to attend the ceremony and parade. The event will offer a chance for firefighters, families, and community members to honor those who gave their lives while serving South Kingstown.
