Warren Firefighters Completed Advanced Extrication Training

Warren, RI — Members of the Warren Fire Department participated in advanced vehicle extrication training on September 17 involving a simulated passenger vehicle trapped beneath a utility trailer.

The scenario involved a patient with both legs pinned beneath the dashboard. Firefighters first stabilized the trailer before removing the vehicle and working to access the patient.

Crews used the department’s newly acquired Holmatro V-Struts for stabilization, along with a Griphoist and other specialized rescue equipment.

Firefighters completed the stabilization and extrication before reviewing patient removal and trauma care techniques.

The exercise provided crews with hands-on experience using the new equipment while reinforcing coordinated vehicle stabilization, extrication and patient care procedures.
