Sandown Firefighters Completed Water Supply Training

Sandown, NH — September 1 — Sandown Fire Rescue members used Tuesday night's training session to practice and improve their skills in setting up a water supply and moving water from the station's equipment.

During the exercise, firefighters worked together with Ladder 3 and Engine 2 to flow water while reviewing the equipment and procedures used during structure fire operations.

The practical session allowed members to practice operating the pump, moving water, and coordinating between different pieces of equipment.

Sandown Fire Rescue operates Engine 2 and Ladder 3 as part of its fire suppression fleet.

Department records list Engine 2 as a 2006 International vehicle equipped with a 1,250-gallon-per-minute pump, and Ladder 3 as a 2015 Spartan aerial apparatus with a 1,500-gallon-per-minute pump.

Maintaining a reliable water supply remains a fundamental skill for engine companies, as crews depend on a steady flow of water to support fire suppression efforts.

Fire service training guidelines highlight establishing a water supply, deploying hose lines, and ensuring proper pump operations as essential tasks for engine companies.

The training also provided members with the chance to work with the same equipment they use during emergency responses.

Repeated hands-on practice helped crews stay familiar with the controls, hose connections, and water-flow operations of their apparatus.
