Seekonk, Mass. — September 13, 2026 — On Sunday, potential firefighters participated in a physical abilities test as the Seekonk Fire Department moved forward with the next phase of its recruitment process.

The candidates undertook a series of physical tests, such as push-ups, sit-ups , a 1.5-mile run, and a 100-foot climb using an aerial ladder. The testing was included in the department’s open application process and will assist in creating a hiring list for upcoming roles.

The aerial ladder section required candidates to climb a 100-foot aerial, further stressing physical capability and comfort working at height. The department said the ladder climb was one of the more popular parts of the test.
