Seekonk, MA — September 3 — The Seekonk Fire Department recognized Firefighter/Paramedic Jonathan McNamara for completing two years of service with the department on September 3, 2026.
McNamara joined Seekonk as a lateral transfer after serving with the Walpole Fire Department. Before Walpole, he had served with the Sturbridge and Leicester fire departments. At the time of his appointment to Seekonk, he brought nearly 20 years of firefighting and EMS experience to the department. He held certifications as a Massachusetts paramedic, Firefighter 1, Fire Officer 1, Fire Prevention Officer, Fire Instructor 1 and basic and advanced fire investigator.
The Seekonk Fire Department listed McNamara as a Firefighter/Paramedic assigned to C Group. The department operated with 45 personnel, including the fire chief, deputy chief, captains, lieutenants and firefighters.
Seekonk firefighters also worked with neighboring departments through the region's mutual-aid system when additional resources were needed. Specific departments that provided mutual aid for the September 3 service milestone were not identified in the available public sources, so none are added here rather than guessing.
The department's mission included protecting life and property through trained personnel, equipment and emergency services.
