Dartmouth Fire District 2 Completed Search and Rescue Drill

South Dartmouth, MA — September 9 — Members of Dartmouth Fire District 2 carried out training sessions focused on water rescue and woodland search and rescue, with support from the Bristol County Drone Team.
The training allowed firefighters to practice search techniques in hard-to-reach areas.
Teams worked on identifying simulated victims, organizing rescue efforts, and utilizing available resources during emergency responses.
The Bristol County Drone Team also took part in the training.
This regional team consists of licensed drone operators from various fire departments in Bristol County.The team can be called upon by any department in the county and can deploy multiple drones for larger search operations or support agencies that do not have their own drone capabilities.
Drones offer incident commanders a bird's-eye view of search areas, helping crews collect important information while minimizing the need to send personnel into unsafe zones until conditions are more clearly understood.
The department also regularly conducts practical, hands-on training.
Its junior firefighter program follows a curriculum similar to that of the Massachusetts Fire Academy, giving members real-world experience in fire service operations.
The training event on September 9 gave crews more experience in water rescue, woodland searches, the use of technology, and coordinated emergency operations.
